Presently, Jess Stratton is the sole owner and instructor of Solace. No matter what level of computer user you are, Jess can teach you something you didn’t know about computers.
She has a degree in Communication Studies, which is helpful when she’s teaching. She’s had an online weekly column for Internet beginners.
Jess has also written for various technical publications, has been a contributing author for the textbook Mike Meyers Presents: Computer Literacy – Your Ticket to IC3 Certification., spoken to hundreds at conferences all over the country, and is recognized as an industry expert in her field.
She’s taught first through third graders how to safely use the Internet through a six-week afterschool program, and given workshops to High School seniors. She’s lectured on Internet privacy and safety to Rotary clubs and other organizations across Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Connecticut.
In addition to training the masses, she sets up and administers corporate e-mail programs and groupware software, such as IBM Notes & Domino. She also programs and develops databases in Microsoft Access, is fluent in networking and Internet technologies.
Currently Solace has three offerings:
1. Technology consulting; primarily in Lotus Notes & Domino.
2. Onsite residential computer coaching – Book an hour with Jess to sit with you at your computer and learn anything you need to know!
3. Websites for small businesses, specializing in limited-budget startup companies!
Jess also on the Marketing Committee and Advisory Council for the non-profit organization Southern Rhode Island Volunteers, which organizes local Meals on Wheels, provides senior services, and matches volunteers with opportunities. She used to volunteer with Reboot, an AKC certified Good Citizen; they participated together in a program called Reading with Rover, in which children who can’t read well sit and read to dogs (who would never judge them!).
